school projects- guidance

My son is often given a shool project to do ( say ... the Amazon
rainforest) but is often unfocussed and in doubt about how much to do or
how to construct an apropriate 'project' . Like most 13 year olds he
avoids parental advice. Any useful resources to guide on how to complete
shool 'projects'

1) The internet is a brilliant resource but there is a temptation to
download loads of material and hand it in as a finished project.

2) Anyone who wants to know "how much is needed" is rarely in danger of
doing too much!

3) Show an interest in the subject reflected in your own comments about
it. Sentences beginning "I think" are useful if there is some
evidence to back up the argument.

4) Most difficult - how would you make this subject interesting to
someone of your own age? If you can do that you can produce an
excellent project.

5) Usual teacherly advice - use a spelling checker, never allow words
like "shool" to creep into your work.
