Money issues
Just wondeirng if anyone else is in this istuation becuase I've started uni and basically it seems almost everyone is being given some money by thier parents (beyond the sstudnet loan contirbution) to help - but my parnets don't wnat to give any becuase they are syaing I should learn to be finically independnat - but this seems to come at the cost of any social life.
I don't get any help from my parents but I get the full loan and grant which means I have at least £5000 a year income, plus odd job wages. At Durham they recommend you can live well (for a student!) on £5000 a year and everyone should be able to get this much, so you should be able to scrape that money together somehow. Good luck

Yeah your right: it's just it seems impossible top find part time work around here at the moment.
