Just a quick question - I've just finished my Biology A2 but I'm not happy with the grade, so I'm resitting some modules next year. Would it be too late to resit an AS module?

Hi everyone
I am an Chinese student whos has study A-level for a year.
My AS results came a couple days ago.
i am ver upset.
My results:
ECON1 C 68/100 ECON2 C 62/100
COMP1 C 83/120 COMP2 B 61/80
Core 2 A 100/100 Core 3 A 92/100 Mech 1 A 95/100

So average it's ABC

My dream uni is oxford and lse.
but now it seem is impossible.
I know i can retake computing and economics next year.
but i dont know if i can get a good result.
The best prediction i will get A* A B at the end...
but that is best....

My parents analyz a lot of reason: my english is no good enough, no foundation of computing and economics, spend some other time on geting on well with english family...

so they want me to resit AS
which mean what i have done is nothing....i feel very upset.

My parents explain to me
if i cant get to top 5 uni, we just wast all the money and time..
because the usual uni for chinese people it just like a paper...

I dont know what to do..
my father ask me to study hard every day since they have make the decision...
It makes me feel very bad...just make me feel i didnt study last year...

i hate that feeling...

However, i have seen some news about the new A-level results
Lots of good result...

It makes me feel worse.....

Do you guys think i can get better result if i resit AS?

1- I Don't think there's *top 5 unis*
2- Some of the top unis might not allow resits, so check their website or contact them
3- It looks like you are very good at maths, so why not take further maths to A2 and you might get A*AA?

DO NOT RESIT THE YEAR!!!! resit the exams. Im going to resit my A2s next year and its terrifying. :frown:

However, resitting the exams may interfere with your A2 exams. You alone know your limit.

actually.....all of my chinese friends got 100/100 in all modules....
lol
here r my chemistry n physics UMS:
Chem unit 1,2,3 =104,90,60
Phy unit 1,2,3 =91,108,50
Are these enough for me to get an A* in A2? Or Should I re-check these?
Coz i don't have 80% ums in my chem unit 2 and phy unit1

1- Write an email to those unis telling them why you got those results, since they might take the circumstances into consideration.
2- How can further maths be hard when you get such high marks on maths...they both have only 6 modules and for further maths there's more modules you can choose to do (so you can pick ones that's easier for you). There might be more stuff covered in further maths books, but there's only some key points you need to know for the exams. (p.s. the more past papers you do for maths/further maths the better you get:p: )

I've heard that once you get your AS results, and get them certificated, then even if you resit your AS results don't change? Something like if you go up a grade after having your resit, then the extra marks just count forwards to your A Level mark or something :s-smilie:

Thing is, I need an A in AS Level Further maths if i even want to consider aiming for an A* overall, so is there any point in resitting and aiming for an A* if the AS result won't change?

It so confusing because surely if i resit and get a better mark, then the B i got for further maths should be an A, and then i should be able to aim for an A*?:eek3:

Okay so after getting my chem(edexcel) results on thursday, all that i know is that my practical marks have let my overall grade down.

But what i dont understand is that after my practical work was moderated by edexcel i was given 34/40 but on my exams results slip it says 45/60 which means that my marks have been mark down or maybe be incorrectly given the marks.

But today i wanted to appeal to the board or possibly get it rechecked. i emailed my school exam officer but she told me that our school only remark written component but not practical. im really upset because i was 3ums marks of an A and if i was to get like 2 raw marks from my practical it will make a huge difference. so i wanted to know it anyone has got their practical grade rechecked before.

so I need some advice can i resit my practicals again or just resit a chem 2(i was 2 marks of an A) ? or should i just leave it and try to get that grade up to an A in A2.

sry for writting a long essay :o:
my school doesnt allow me!!!! :stomp:  as its distracting to do it in january and encourages us to do well in the first place!

so now im having to find places to do retakes! :stomp:
