What can you do with a degree in Linguistics?

I'm an undergraduate in my second year of BA hons English and I am considering doing an MA or Phd afterwards in Linguistics as I have real passion for the subject.

I was wondering what I could do with this further study afterwards, or in fact any level of degree in Linguistics?

Do you know anyone who did this degree and what they did afterwards?

I'm up for any suggestions except for primary or secondary teaching as I REALLY don't want to do that.

well, i went to quite an excellent presentation about linguistics careers at a cambridge open day last year :tongue:

apparently many people go into advertising/media, TEFL/TESOL, translation, computer programming, research and even espionage...
