Engineering Physics?

Hey all,

Random question, but just wondering. If you study engineering, do you study physics to the same breadth as at A level/IB? Would you still learn things like atomic physics and SHM? or just things that are applicable, like fluids, thermodynamics etc?

Thanks,
_Kar.

Well SHM would be appropriate, so yes.

Not sure about atoms and the like though.
Depends on the kind of engineering you do. If you study mechanical engineering you go absolutely mental on mechanics, fluids, thermodynamics etc., if you study electrical engineering you go absolutely mental on circuits but will also do a lot of electromagnetism and probably also a decent amount of quantum physics though obviously not to the same depth as physicists. Atomic physics only as part of quantum or if you do an option on laser design or something like that I would have said...
