Just downloaded real Money pokerstars and playing a really cheap tournament, lets see how it goes!

I almost always place in the play money tournaments but I assume real money will have better players

I find it's surprisingly tight even at ridiculously irrelevant money. The play is still pretty tight in $1 buy-in.

You've made me want to play one now so I might encounter you

Yeah I've noticed that too, that's why I absolutely despise real money cash games

Good luck if you do

how did you do?

I did a $1.50 sit and go and finished 3rd for $4.75 (from 18)
Just did a $1.50 sit and go, one table, finishing third for $2.30. It took me an hour to earn 80 cents.

Not too great haha did a couple of tourneys with 180 people playing, didn't manage to place in the top 27 although my excuse is that I had trash hands constantly hahah.

Made my money back slowly but surely on the micro stakes cash games.

That's the frustrating thing I find about it, take so much time to earn very little. I want to get to the stage where I obviously increase my bankroll. play at slightly higher tables and even multi-table at some point.

Yeah my thing is I'm really busy writing a dissertation at the moment so I only really have time to play mini turbo games in the evening.

You'll get there. What levels are you playing? If you buy in for $10 on the $0.05/10 tables all you have to do is double up and all of a sudden you're getting somewhere.
Poker is such a struggle. Especially with me thinking I'm clever as ****.

Exactly the same tonight. Third seems to be my number.

That was after losing two all-ins in which I was substantially ahead, though (one of them I had the other guy dominated).

Good luck with your dissertation!

Just being doing 0.2/0.5p mainly. Just won a sit n go. Didn't read it correctly though, the winner got a free seat at a tournament, which I don't have time for, fs haha
Glad to see there is a Poker society here. I'm starting my uni course in September so I registered here today. I'm still learning poker and I hope to improve my game and play some live games (I have so far played mostly online).
Can't believe this thread is still active.

Bumping this thread to induce some high level poker chat
Guess who learnt to play poker yesterday?! ...This Guy!
:u:

I downloaded Zynga and I'm loving it. Even though I'm really bad! lol.

What sort of study material should I be processing to become an awesome player?

Good video playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvdvGlOkUoE&list=PLkb2eSKwRSqc9Ul84HnsaIO0sS3Fwgzmy

This book is good but very dense in parts: http://www.pokerbooks.lt/books/en/05_01_en.pdf

Thanks man! That playlist looks great!

Woah. Is that book all about No-Limit? I will definitely read it!

Do you guys play for real money? I don't think i'm at that stage yet unfortunately, I would probably end up broke lol

Yeah it's about no-limit

You don't need to risk much money. You can play for microstakes online, for instance $2 buy-in with $0.01 and $0.02 blinds cash, or similarly cheap tournaments. It's sometimes possible to find relatively cheap (e.g. £10, 15), and sometimes even free-to-enter, live tournaments at casinos, too, so you don't necessarily need to put lots of cash at risk to practise live poker.

Is there a big difference between Cash Texas Holdem and Tournament?

We should have a TSR Poker Tournament then sometime! :P
