Your stakes are too high for a casual home game if they do. Play for a buy-in of a fiver or tenner or a cash game of that value of chips (at my local game with have the standard £5 buy-in game then a second game as people are eliminated where people play games with each chip having a value of 20p). It's low enough to not get anyone riled up but high enough to make sure people play seriously. No-limit cash games or buy-ins exceeding the value of a couple of rounds at the pub are where you get into dicey territory.
