Austria decision disregard European arrest warrant

In the past few days the most discussed issue in Lithuania and Austria is Austria decision disregard European arrest warrant and release Soviet Union „Alpha“ union KGB colonel Michail Golovatov, which is a suspect in the January 13th massacre and accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes. More information you can find here: http://www.lithuaniatribune.com/2011/07/18/austria-has-released-a-suspect-over-the-january-13th-massacre/

I am just curious how this situation is seen by the objective people.
Even without a European arrest warrant, for Austria to release him seems a pretty douchey thing to do considering what he is wanted for.

This is all you can expect from a left-wing government.

Ironic, considering it's the lefties in the EU who set up the warrant scheme to bypass the rights of citizens in foreign countries.
