EU Undergraduate Maintenance Loan?

Just wondering if an EU student comes to Scotland to study, are there any maintainance loan support available? The student has not lived in the UK for more than 3 years, does not have migrant worker status, nor does the student have any family members in the UK who carries a migrant worker status.

What can that student do?

Thanks

Can you not apply for a loan in your 'home' country? There might be grants you can apply for through the specific university but I don't think you can be granted a loan in the host member state.

no there aren't. that student must rely on money from their parents, or from a job, or a loan from the home country

What if an EU national has been in the UK for more than three years? Would he then be eligible for a maintenance loan in Scotland, or does that only apply for Wu students in England?

Yes, see section 8 http://www.saas.gov.uk/_forms/funding_guide.pdf

In that instance, SF maintenance loans and grant would both be available. However they would have had to have come to the UK for reasons other than education e.g. To take up a job or to moved over with their parents when a minor.
