I study electrical and electronic engineering. I get "why are you going to uni to be an electrician?", or "why don't you just do an apprenticeship then?". Idiots.
I think a lot of people ask because there are quite a few medicine applicants who put pharmacy as a back-up, or their interests change, like yours did. But it just annoys me when people assume I must have failed at medicine and that I'm somehow inferior. Be quiet, fools.
Thanks. You too.
*High five* (right back at you xD)
I am going to start studying pharmacy this year at the UCL School of Pharmacy and Im pretty excited about that
In my opinion, both pharmacy and medicine are quite challenging courses.
Anyway what about you? Where are you going to study?
"What's that?" "What sort of job can you get with that?" "Woah... say that again. That's gone right over my head." "So many words." And my personal favorite... "Is that a real course? Does this university do that?"

A friend of mine does that course. After saying what he studied I once witnessed someone ask him: 'Does that make you head bin-man?'
"Really? you must be clever" "Wow that's a lot harder than what I'm doing" "So what exactly do you learn about" "What kind of job are you going to get with that after uni?"
Kind of non-amusing usual ones. Genetics isn't really the kind of course people can make a pun with I don't think. Though I'd like it if someone tried.

My sciency friends get all the good responses. Like,
"Could I have a regular kid with my cousin? I don't think we're blood related."
I think people at my uni are just plain weird though.

Off to London, nice one. I'm not a big city girl so none of the London uni's really appealed to me just because of location, but you'll have to let me know what the course is like there and we can compare.
Yeah, I'd say they are. Although medicine's a longer course, who knows if it's necessarily harder? I know some people take pharmacy then do graduate entry medicine, I'm going to find someone and ask them...
