Crashing Higher Latin

I'm in fourth year at the moment, and am thinking about highers next year. One of the subjects offered at my school is Latin, however, when I applied to my school at the start of S2 they wouldn't let me do Latin as I hadn't studied it before. I would really love to study it though and I was wondering if doing a crash course in higher latin would be feasible. I am a linguistic type of person, and languages are my better subjects, but would it be too difficult and challenging to crash in a year?

There was a girl at my school who crashed Higher Latin last year outside of school, while taking 5 other Highers in school. She got 6 A's so it must have been manageable.
