How do you self mark your own work?

I try to self mark and then just end up writing any random number.. but I really need to learn.
I scanned in a recent answer to an economics paper, the question from the exam paper and the subsequent mark scheme. and then of course, my work. But even with the scheme I don't know how to mark myself. I just gave myself 6 out of 8 because I read it and didn't think it was terrible but you know, I didn't know it was that great either.

well it would help if it would upload haha, exceeds the file size.

Please help?

I tend to just give myself all A's. Shame the teachers don't agree.

Just approach it ether like you have never seen it before or like you are expecting it to be the worst answer ever, and mark fairly harshly how impressed you are with the answer. Look carefully at the markscheme and interpret as objectively as you can whereabouts your answer deserves to be.

Yeah, it's more difficult to mark (and self-mark) essay-style questions
