Why does the amount of solar radiation absorbed by the Earth's surface vary...?

1. From place to place.
2. From time to time.

So far for no. 1 I have got:
- Albedo (reflectivity of the earth's surface)
- Cloud Cover
- Land and sea
- Angle of the Sun

But nothing for no.2

Surely no.2 is basically the same for no. 1, at the end of them each are going to be somewhat dependant on the time of the year. Ice levels, plant growth, cloud cover and so on all vary by the time of year.
Seasonal changes and diurnal changes. So that's angle of the sun depending on the time of year and day, plus whatever weather-related stuff you want to chuck in your answer.
