American Studies at UEA

Hi there

So I'm thinking of applying to UEA to do American Studies with a year abroad in North America.

Is there anyone who is currently studying/has finished studying the same course? I've Googled and there don't seem to be any impartialish ?student? responses.

Hi Nicole,

Whilst I can't give you a detailed answer from personal experience on what it is like to study this course at UEA, I understand statistically the School of AMS has ranked first for student satisfaction in the 2012 National Student Survey, second in the UK according to the Guardian league table 2013 and third in The Times Good University Guide for American Studies.

Finally, from a more personal perspective, I previously lived with students from the school of AMS. The impression I got was that the year abroad is hugely popular and worthwhile experience. Furthermore, whilst they are on the UEA campus they are very active socially- especially during Thanksgiving, the Superbowl and election night. The 'UEA American Studies Society' is run separately from the school of study and I believe they have previously won certain accolades at the UEA Union Awards. I've just calculated I'll be on the Year Abroad during the election, which is amazing! AND Thanksgiving is near my birthday so that'll be good too. And I suppose I'll have to get into sports now too :biggrin:
