Well they do take your choice into account and offer it to you if they can. I got my choice! Yet my bf asked for the same and got the total opposite...

i think most people get what they want (i did) but it depends on the demand for the type of accomodation you want that determines whether or not you get what you asked for
I dont remember seeing a choice between a flat and a house on the application...
Nah instead you choose from ensuite (flat) or not (house).
Kent is my insurance choice, does anyone have any idea what sort of accomodation I'll end up with if I go there. I really, really want a self catering place I'm no longer bothered whether I have a large room or en-suite (although obviously I would love to have that and it would be ideal) but the one thing I will not be able to stand is if I can't cook my own food!

Does anyone know how insurance people are really placed?? oh dear I'm a little bit worried now

hey its my insurance choice too, n im scared where i'll end up!! i was confused as to whether we had to specify what accomodation then thought this was unlikely so i havent done anything with that! just hope for the best and that we both get into our firms!!
Insurance people are generally in Darwin or Eliot. Mwahahaha.

oh dear...
Are Darwin and Elliot not good? oh nooooooooooooooooooooooo, please some one tell me what they're like
You might get lucky!
Darwin and Eliot are catered college accommodation...great for socialising but bad for quiet. Rooms are smallish but big enough. Eliot and Rutherford (basically mirror images of each other) have corridors of seven or eight with 2 showers (one a shower over bath), one toilet and one kitchen with microwave. There is one big bedroom in each corridor - hopefully you'll get that! Darwin, now, that...it...ITS OK. Corridors of five with one shower and one toilet between them, the kitchen is shared between a LOT of people though with three microwaves. But with all college accom you get a sink in your room. And you're catered for breakfast and dinner anyway.
Keynes is by far the best college accommodation, unless you get a superior Darwin room, and these are rare. Eliot and Rutherford are the best for socialising though, in my opinion.
GO GO PARK WOOD SELF CATERED!! Oh, I miss it already...if anyone gets Kemsdale Court 22b next year, let me know!!

the rooms were ok when u got in them, it was just the corridors i didnt like! so narrow...or was that just me?
Yeah they are narrow and the floor is uncomfortable to sleep on!

yeah in keynes the corridors are very long and narrow and there isn't much room for socialising. the rooms are a decent size and can fit quite a few people in there though.
I just finished my first year. I asked for Tyler court and got new Parkwood which is basically the same but with less people in a flat and there are more rooms overall. Darwin is the dingiest accomodation followed by rutherford and Eliot. I wouldn't worry too much though because I don't know anyone (even in Darwin) who was unhappy because of where they lived.

When I had people to stay in Parkwood they either parked in Woodys (sneaky secret) during the week or they parked in the spaces by the accomodation (at the weekends - free parking). It was never a problem. Obv if you live in Tyler court it is harder to have people to stay because there is limited parking on the main campus and it is really far from Tyler... I enjoyed it anyway

I really enjoy doing English.
Ah yes English rocks my socks!!

gdgd, english is my course at kent. i think its english, american and creative writing
Kent is my insurance choice but I'll most probably end up going there. Is English good there I haven't really done too much research into it vut from the visit day it sounded really really good, I so almost ended up putting Kent as my first choice it was such a hard decision! I am a bit worried that as an insurance student I'll end up with the dingiest accomodation:frown: but I guess that'll just be my punishment for not working hard enough to get into my first choice uni:rolleyes: Are there any students currently at Kent who can say they've suffered purely because the uni was their insurance choice??

Hi all, Kent is my first choice, and the course I applied for is Biomedical Science (with sandwich yr). I applied for Park Wood accomodation and I'm really excited about it all!
Those of you already at Kent, how long does it take to walk into the town? Would you recommend getting a bicycle? And also, what are the Darwin Houses like? There is no information about them at all on the website!
AND what are the unions like on campus? And what is the music scene like in Canterbury?

Hope to hear from you guys soon!
Walk into town: Half an hour
Bicycle: Ahh they're cool. But you don't need one.
Darwin houses: I've had two opinions on them, one is 'crap' the other is 'awesome'. Lots of people living in a self-catered house, on campus. near the colleges. Sounds pretty awesome to me, rooms are of a decent size too and there's a rose garden!
Union: *******s
Music scene: Awful. Kent seems to consist of mainly 'indie' people but the Venue always has pop and dance on.
