PPE at Manchester or Gap year (work/travel & retake)?

Hi

I got my A2 grades AAB (Philosophy, Economics and Maths respectively). I got an offer from Bath university to do Economics. Bath was my firm choice, but they wanted A*AA (they said that AAA would also be fine, but they were really keen on an A in Maths). Manchester gave me an offer of AAB to study PPE. I kept Manchester as my insurance, but I don't know if its worth the £36000 debt? Is PPE at Manchester very good?

The alternative to Manchester is to take a gap year; in that year some of my time will be spent working in Bangladesh (either in the garments industry (in the merchandising dept) or for an NGO) and some of my time will be spent retaking my Maths A level.

I really don't know what to do...

Will good universities shun me if they know I did my Maths A level again? Is it worth the time and money?
