iWork or Microsoft Office (with NUS extra discount)?

I have a mac and was wondering what was the best option to choose here? 4 year microsoft office deal with my NUS extra card is £60, whilst I believe iWork which contains pages, numbers and keynotes (equivalent of word, excel and powerpoint I can only presume) looks to be around £42.
Edit: I'll probably miss out on buying numbers initially as I don't really know if it is going to be any use for my course, so overall the apple equivalent will cost about £28, over half as cheap as office.

Anybody have experience with both or more specifically iWork and can say how bad/good it is? Is it worth the extra £18/£32for microsoft office?

Thanks!

Don't buy anything until you know you need it - LibreOffice (free) may fit your needs just fine.
