Starting your EE with a quote

I have written my extended essay (English HL, first language) and now my supervisor thinks I should start the whole thing with a quote. does anyone know from experience whether this is a good/bad thing to do??

If the quote is relevant to your topic, you explain why you put it there (it's value/contribution to your essay) and you can maybe refer back to it during your essay, it should be fine. I'm not sure if you should start with it though, it may be better to work it into your introduction instead.

Otherwise, I think the same rule applies to EE's as it does to personal statements: Don't ever have a random, unexplained quote.
