School sixth form or independent sixth form?

Are you moderately happy at the school you are at? What do you think your chances of staying happy will be? Happiness is important, it makes it a lot easier to do well.

It sounds like you will be taking a chance on doing well and happiness if you leave, because it is an unknown. Normally unknowns are a good thing, like you say, stimulating environment, more people, being treated differently. But in this case, it might not be worth the gamble (meaning it might not all go as well as you think - not enough attention, struggle with work, stress of making new friends and new people, teachers who aren't sympathetic, getting lost...)

There are also other places to meet friends - yes it's annoying putting this off for another 2/3/however many years you decide before progressing to become a microbiologist at uni. But getting the attention you need in an environment you already know (so you don't have to worry about a million other different things like who everyone is, teachers, teaching style, where things are etc) is important in terms of getting the grades you want.
