Money

Do you find that you are ever running out of money during university? Is this because you're a big spender or you just don't receive enough to begin with?

I start university next year and I'm interested to know how students are managing finance. I have heard stories of students eating into their overdraft because they run out of money and quite frankly the thought scares me. If anyone wouldn't mind sharing this information: what proportion of your money goes towards necessary expenses such as rent and how much is left over for recreation per week/month?
Well how much will you have to spend?

My student loan minus the accommodation payments leaves me with about £90 a week. I normally spend about £50 a week on food (plenty of people spend a lot less) so that leaves £40 a week for recreational stuff.

That's plenty and I haven't ever been worried about running out so far.

That was very helpful, thank you for the response.
