I'm doing A2 OCR physics B and the first exam mostly tests your mathematical knowledge. The exam is basically remembering equations, manipulating them and explaining relationships.

In general, A level physics is a lot more mathematical than GCSE physics, I found it ok in my AS year, but in A2, harder maths is involved. If you don't take maths for A level you might struggle a bit in A2, but in AS you should be fine with GCSE maths knowledge. If you don't take maths for A2, you might struggle a bit with maths used in A2 physics but if you have a good physics teacher, they should be able to help you out with those mathematical bits.

With physics, you really have to do your research and understand the concepts in detail. That way it will be a lot more enjoyable for you to learn and you will do much better in exams. If you find physics interesting then you should take it.
