Never thought of going to stores near closing, that might be a good time to grab so bargains. Though since most shops close 10pm and later that maybe a little difficult.
Thanks for the tips.
How about quorn? Is that expensive?

Cous Cous! Healthy, cheap and filling - what more could you want?! Have it with some lean mince (or even quorn), veggies (carrots, asparagus, peppers) stir fry it with some curry powder and cumin and any spices you like, and normally I make a lot so I have it for one meal, and it lasts a good few meals then  just don't use too much oil - use water to bulk it up! It's one of my fave meals

My sister is quite big on Quinoa right now. It's quite high in protein, but is plant based, so very lean indeed. I agree with quorn being expensive per unit protein, but that is compared to my sainsbury's basics minced beef. It's probably almost equivalent in price to lean or extra lean mince.

Also even if the supestores shut at like 10.00, you can usually find good stuff reduced from about 8.00 onwards.
