Wouldn't bank on getting an FY1 place in UK as an EU grad in 5 years. I know for dentistry UK grads have priority in their foundation place over EU grads - meaning that until ALL UK grads have a place, no EU grad will be given a place. Wouldn't be surprised if this was to be the same with medicine soon.
Also, there isn't a shortage of doctors or dentists anymore. In fact, the number of places at medical and dental schools were reduced either this year or the year before.
If you've got the grades, stay in the UK.

I realise this probably doesn't affect your main point, but I thought I'd point out that the vast majority of (if not all) EU grads do not need to do FY1, they can go straight to FY2.

Yeah I'm aware of this, and I'm glad this is the case, I just want to move on and specialise like the Germans. Haha
