Is it possible to become an Investment Banker with a first law degree from Manchester University?

Most investment banking and private banking companies run a graduate programme that tends to except people with wide ranging degrees. So I think the transition would not be a problem at all.
A good friend of mine read law, went into banking and has now returned to law and is a QC.
