Essay on theme?

What techniques would I mention in an essay about the theme of a short story? How does the author develop/explore theme? In my short story the theme is not evident until the climax/ending so I'm unsure how to write 3 body paragraphs on it. Thank you

I think ur answer should comment on how the story follows the normal conventions of the short story, or does it? Given there is no time to develop a plot all the writer has is language and a message or maxim which is made clear at the end. Depending on the exact genre is short story I.e. Irish, English, american, Russian, etc, this may differ according to the form.
