Pharmaceutical Industry
Hello,
I am contemplating going into the pharmaceutical industry after my PhD and would be interested in views on this.
What is working for a pharma company like and how does it compare with doing a PhD? Can you apply to go into specific areas of a company's research or are you simply dumped where necessary, or do you apply for a specific position? Are there options for working abroad? How can I improve my chances of getting into the industry?
Also, would it be better to go into the industry after a post-doc position, or just straight after a PhD?
For the record, I am currently doing a degree in Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry at Nottingham and plan to do a PhD in protein-DNA interaction work/structural biology.
