Oh wow how fascinating. I'm swatting up on Peter the Great ahead of A Levels- Robert K Massie's biography and Cracraft's too. Also reading a biography of Shostakovich. :smile:

You've got a great royalist syllabus. Mines Prussia Hitler and the Irish troubles.

Yes I'm looking towards it! Prussia and Ireland sound good but I feel like I've done Hitler to death at GCSE!

Good. I never did Hitler at GCSE so I'm ready, willing and able.
Apart from Shostakovich can you recommend any other classical music?

Hitler is fascinating nonetheless!
Ermm for baroque Bach's violin partitas, for classical Haydn Symphony 45, for romantic Beethoven Symphony 9 or Tchaikovsky 5 or Korsakov's Scheherazade. They would be my recommendations.

Ahh ok, so I would say Gavotte en Rondeau from Bach's violin partita 3, the 4th movement of Beethoven 3 and Waltz from the Masquerade Suite by Khachaturian, for dancing.
