EE Chemistry question

Hey guys, so I'm currently in the process of writing my EE in chemistry.
I was wondering, for the method, is it better to write in in 1st person or not?
For example:
First make up a solution of.
or
I first made up a solution of.
Thank you.

I think, in general, it's always best to write methods in imperative format ("make up a solution of..."). And try to avoid connectives, because your explanation will soon become very cumbersome when you have to keep saying "then" and "next". Just say them in a kind of list form; for example, "Take 50cm of X. Pour this solution into a test tube. Etc."
Always write in imperative. I find it handy to think of it as writing a recipe for someone
