Ah Russell is great, I always try and see how my interpretations differ from his too. I really recommend 'The Conquest of Happiness' by him on the meaning of life and 'Problems of Philosophy on the limitations of the field.

Ah Rousseau is cool, especially his stuff on nature. I'm not so sure about all of his work on living like we are in ancient Sparta without any luxuries but its pretty interesting.

Exactly. That's what makes me so mad, there's a few hundred lines in all of Marx's work on what a society should look like he mostly worked on capitalism yet nobody even bothers to read it. Watch the School of Life on Marx, its great.

Haha yeah man! Most people my age, even if they are interested in politics talk about party politics, when I'm more interested in ideology and political philosophy. I'd say I'm pretty close to Rousseau and Russell so a left-libertarian, or anarchist. I'd say I'm a socialist but I'm against totalitarian, soviet-esque 'socialism' so together thats called anarcho-syndicalism.

I think I've added you, theres like several people side to side.

Rousseau is intriguing because of the mixture of Romanticism and Enlightenment. Really excited to study his works in Political Theory classes. I am also a fan of Stoicism, although not the early one that resembles Cynicism

I will try the School of Life. Marx is one of the reasons for my interest in Social Theory and respectively Sociology. If you are interested, you may try Anthony Giddens' Capitalism and Modern Social Theory, although I don't agree with all of Giddens' views on contemporary topics.

With a friend of mine, I will attend for the first time a debating club and wonder whether the guys there are interested in the theoretical part, although I doubt that. We see eye-to-eye on many topic since we are both on the left. Are you on the same page as Chomsky? Do you support Occupy movement? (I really do!) I bought a book of Chomsky and it proved really helpful for the essay so thank you!

How's your essay going? I have now a clear plan but have to write it yet!

I havent read that much into the Greeks but I intend to. What would you advise?

Ah cheers man thats great I'll have a look. I dont know how good your English but it seems great so there's a talk by Tamar Gendler on 'Big Think' on youtube thats on three different views of social contract theory thats really worth a watch.

Ah I set up a debate club I my school, it was a pretty good way of finding fellow leftists. I'd say broadly though yes though there are a few things I differ from him on and I'm sceptical about some of his Linguistics work. I've emailed Chomsky a couple of times and he replies every time, apparently he's been doing it for years just advising people on subjects and providing sources and stuff. Yeah do you know Chomsky wrote a book about Occupy? Worth a read its only 60 pages or something, I think you could get it online for free. Yeah and it actually works too, Amazon started paying their taxes last week. Ah good, glad I could help.

I've done about three hundred words but I'm struggling to find anything to pin down as it is such a broad question. I cant really find anything to read either.

You've probably read Plato's Republic. I haven't either read much of the Greeks. I have heard that Aristotle is not that hard to read. I strongly recommend Peter Adamson's broadcasts on the Greeks. He has a good section on Stoicism and you can find them online for free.

I went to the debate club. It turned out pretty funny! The main debater told me the day before the real debate that I should replace one of the participants because he/she was ill. So I was supposed to debate without doing any debating before in front of people who have been doing this for like several years. I could not made my points pretty well plus I was assumed to answer to their best speaker. On the top of which, my phone started ringing in the middle of my speech. Nevertheless, the people were really supportive so I get over it. It's a big fun so I'll certainly continue going. Thanks about Chomsky's book! I added half a paragraph because of that book so really thank you! I also think that many of his linguistic stuffs are highly improbable although they're quite interesting.

Hope you've more luck with your essay next week.. I've been thinking on some resources for you and the only thing I can recommend is reading John Lewis Gaddis' conclusion of his book on the Cold War. It's an optimistic, even idealistic, American account for our world in the aftermath of the Cold War. I believe that his predictions did not really fill into the picture but you may use it. Anyway, I can email you some pictures of the last pages if you want. There are some underlined lines there but it should work.
