How long does it take to get a driving license??

From the day I apply for a provisional license to the day I pass (presuming I pass theory/practical first time) how long would it take approximately?

Also, approximately how much would it cost?

Say a week to recieve provisional licence.

Then you start driving lessons and book your theory test (usually a 2 week wait).

Assuming 2 hours a week and an average tuition time of 20 hours required to give another 10 weeks.

So probably 11 weeks as a quickish average?

Mine took about 3 months. Although i applied for my provisional a few months before my birthday so I started 2 days after my 17th.

Provisional licences don't aways come that quickly! I've known at least one take months ...

There's a six week wait for both theory and driving tests around here - so don't bank on the timescale above! Tests can be cancelled for bad weather or examiner ill health so any plan is then thrown into disarray.

You can't anticipate how many lessons you will need - some people need 10 and others 60.
Also, you could do an intensive course which is what I'm doing - 30 hours condensed into a week and a half during half term, plus any more hours I may need, plus my theory and practical. Assuming I pass both first time, I should have my car by April so should be driving in about 7 weeks.
