How are ocean trenches formed?

For GCSE Geography.

ocean trenches are formed on destructive plate boundaries where a oceanic plate is pushed underneath a continental plate as it is denser. this point is called the subduction zone- the action of the oceanic plate being pushed downwards creates the oceanic trench.
here is a link to a good diagram which will help with the explanation: http://www.columbia.edu/~vjd1/subd_zone.gif
