was just wondering if unis actually regard it as a decent subject as I'm not planning to take a degree in it and so wonder if its worth it other than I am interested in it

By the top unis, it's considered a bit of a soft subject. Definitely better off with Maths/Further Maths/Bio/Chem/Physics
