Ace those AS's

ACE THOSE AS'S

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog! :h:

I recently got my mock results back. I wasn't expecting anything outstanding, after all, many people in my year got Us in their exams (I think the realisation of the challenge of A-Levels has finally hit everyone)!

I, however, was pleasantly surprised.

I achieved:
A - Modern History :awesome:
B - Theatre Studies :u:
C - English Language
D - English Literature:bricks:

The reason I was so happy with those results (despite the D) was that I actually revised super hard for History and Theatre because they were the two I was most worried about. These results give me reassurance that my revision technique is clearly effective.

So my goals that I hope to achieve with help from this blog are as such:
1) Revise the past terms work regularly, and review work from the past week every Sunday.
2) Achieve AAAB in my AS exams (this is super high expectations, I am realistically hoping to achieve ABBC, but hey, it's always good to dream big!).
3) Update this blog every week with my progress. If I update it more regularly then that would be fab, but I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.

What I'd overall like to achieve in my life, I suppose, is to go to University and study English Literature (possibly do a joint honours with either English Language, Creative Writing, journalism or drama).

My 'dream' jobs (I haven't decided on one) is to do one of the following:
I definitely want to have written a book and for it to be published - the ultimate goal is to become an author who can live off of writing books, but I am aware of how talented you need to be to be able to do that so there are other things I would like to do:
Working in publishing.
Being a columnist.
Being an editor of a magazine.
Perhaps being a news presenter.

So thats a tonne of information on me, so that every time I look on here I have my goals right in front of me for instant motivation!

And so it begins....!

(Side note: I will be posting loads of resources on here to help other people with the stuff I find :colondollar:)

Well done for your mock results they are really good! I'm in year 13 and will be going on to do an English Literature degree in Uni this year (fingers crossed!) so if you ever need any info on applying for english degrees etc. then let me know. Your job preferences are very similar to mine haha.

As for the D, don't worry too much you still have time to improve! I was getting A's and B's all year in yr 12 but completely messed up my exam and came out with a D but I was still given an offer for all my Uni choices so don't worry!

Good Luck with your exams!!

Thank you very much! That's really reassuring to hear!
Hiya @shuutupcharli

I noticed in a different thread that you're studying Mrs Dalloway? Over the course of my degree I studied this book like 4 times! (wouldn't say I was an expert- but am certainly a fan of Woolf) if you have any questions, I'm always keen to chat about it :h:

Congrats on your mock results! It's good to hear that the subjects you really revised for you did really well in.

Great start to your blog- can't wait to see more!
IT'S HALF TERM!

For some reason this half term really dragged out, even though it's been the shortest one so far!
Revision hasn't been going great. The deadline for my theatre studies coursework is on Monday, and my performance is a week on Friday...! So I have been focusing most of my time on that.
Hopefully this week I'll be able to get a lot of revision done as well as do all the homework that has been set for me, so my goals for this week are:
* To finish all the homework that has been set
* To finish reading Orlando by V. Woolf
* To finish watching the Harvard lecture on Measure for Measure
* Do revision notes up to World War 1 for both British and German history
* GENERAL REVISION WOO

Ugh, really not feeling this, but enthusiasm is the only way to stay motivated, right?

Oh wow, that is so kind of you and so helpful! I'll keep that in mind whenever I come across an area I'm struggling with in the text, thanks!!!!
I have a lot of homework this half term ._. my main goal is to make flash cards for my subjects and then start my revision and get to know all the content so I can start past papers some time in March c:

That sounds like a great plan! Good luck
Feeling a lot more motivated now! On Wednesday I did absolutely nothing...! Thursday I did a little bit on the People's Budget for history, and notes on the Home Front and today I have finished doing the People's Budget and Parliament Act (I think i FINALLY GET IT!) and been doing the making of the Labour Party up until 1914.

Hopefully I will have finished all work for British and German history up until 1914 by Sunday evening, and I still have a few more pieces of homework to finish off, but i'm not doing anything this weekend so HOPEFULLY I can get it all done and get my revision underway.

Worked out it was 12 weeks until my exams start, so am going to try and plan out revision up until Easter, then I might give myself a week of in the Easter holidays (I did that last year and it was really effective and refreshing to have a long break, to let everything kind of settle in your head for a bit!).
I FOUND A WAY TO MAKE MY DAY PRODUCTIVE OH MY GOSH!!!!

I have never been in to timings when it comes to creating revision timetables. I just put what subjects I'm going to do on each day, because I'm really bad at estimating the amount of time something is going to take me, so i've kind of combined the two.

Today I woke up at 8am and decided what I needed to do today and prioritised them: 1. An exam question 2. review some notes 3. create a poster, and 4. revision (if time). Then at 10am I did the exam question for an hour. I then had A WHOLE HOUR BREAK. I didnt managed to finish the exam question so at 12pm I finished that off for an hour. THEN I HAD ANOTHER HOUR BREAK FOR LUNCH. Now it is 2pm and I am getting started on reviewing notes, and, you guessed it, at 3 I'LL HAVE ANOTHER HOUR BREAK.

It may sound like a long break, but it makes my study sessions so much more productive because I am looking forward to a time when I can actually take some chill time, rather than the 5 minute breaks where you scroll tumblr and suddenly you're thrown back into studying... see what i mean?

When i get closer to exams, I'll probably do 45 minute, 15 minute break (I work better in long study sessions).

This is what works for me so let me know if you give it a try!
So... ... ... Yeah ... I did no revision (or homework for that matter) last week.

I WAS SO EXHAUSTED FROM DRAMA REHEARSALS EVERY SINGLE EVENING LAST WEEK AND THEN THE PERFORMANCE ON FRIDAY. So exhausted omg. Anyway, I felt really ill today so took the day off and am going to try and catch up on everything.

Hope your revision is going better than mine...!
TODAY HAS BEEN PRODUCTIVE!

I saw an advert for a washing up job this morning, so started off by sorting out my CV for that (the perfect job for someone with social anxiety such as myself), I then sent off my poetry essay to my teacher which I missed in the lesson today. Then I spent forever planning my Measure for Measure essay but damn, did it pay off!! I am actually pretty proud of it. Now I am going to do some German History revision (Kulturkampf if you were wondering!) and then do some notes on the Easter Rising and Lloyd-George.
oh gosh, revision has not been going well. I'm sorry, I have no excuse. I'll get back on track.

However, I did get a job today so that's a positive!

Congrats! You still have time for revision. It's only the start of March!

Thank you for the support!!
HEY GUYS!

It's Easter I thought I would document what I complete at the end of each day. I am on track today as it is currently 2:45pm and I have completed a spoken language essay and an essay on Measure for Measure which is fab! I got given 13 pieces of homework this holiday (how ridiculous considering i need to REVISE) so now I'm on 11 which is great.
I plan on doing some English Language revision on noun phrases because I am rubbish at noun phrases and never pick them out in a text, and then I am going to do some German History revision and I think it's socialist stuff that I am doing, or the fall of Bismarck or both if I'm really on a roll!!

Sorry that I have been really inactive. Revision has been going pretty poorly and I started a new job last weekend and it went pretty badly cause I'm a bit rubbish so i've just been dreading tomorrow. But HEY it'll be fine...!

Thanks guys!
