Hi there!
Chris here, a first year BSc (Hons) Computer Science with placement student. If you want, I can answer some of your questions on the course so far?
With Easter holidays approaching on Friday, I'm about halfway through my second semester of first year, so I can certainly cast an opinion on the course to far!
I've certainly enjoyed it so far. It's been much more varied than I had anticipated, which is a bonus. I did Computing A level which was what sparked my interest in the subject and so far it has consisted of some extension of A level knowledge, as well as new content.
There is coursework of some kind in every unit ranging from programming tasks to essays to group projects. I like the variety.

I found the first maths unit (CM10196) quite abstract and difficult to understand the later content at first but got the hang of it soon enough! CM10251 is a year long module and was interesting to discover the different methods of designing software. Personally, the programming modules have been most interesting as they have introduced us to C and Java development in quite a head-first practical way which has meant people are all at more or less the same level by Christmas.

It's not hugely diverse - the uni students (and from what I've seen, other people that live in the city) are predominantly white but there are a fair few international students.

Hi,
For my course (International Management) the 2015 intake represents sixteen different countries between around only forty students. I would consider this very diverse, and I really benefit and enjoy being around people with such different backgrounds. We have alumni around the world, as I require a placement abroad as part of my course this can be incredibly helpful.
The city itself is home to a lot of tourism and attracts people from around the world. It is hard to describe diversity in a city, but I have certainly never felt that it is not diverse.

There will no doubt be a 'Bath Freshers 2016' group pop up closer to the time, I will post it on here when I come across it. The event is in the very early stages of planning at the moment, so it might be a while. I found it difficult to talk with others properly before results day anyway, stick to the Student Room for now!
