Electrical Engineering: Edinburgh vs Southampton

I posted this a couple months ago in the Southampton forum with mixed responses. It completely skipped my mind to post it here and I was looking for some insight possibly from someone doing engineering at Edinburgh.

I was let down with the course on offer at Edinburgh, it's an extra year and seemed too open ended to be a credible engineering degree. Whereas at Southampton the city looked rather slow paced and small.

Which is generally seen as the better place to end up for Electrical Engineering?
