Which uni has the best Urban planning programme for bachelor?

Hi guys, I am an overseas student.
Is it true that UCL has the bacherlor Urban Planning programme with highest reputation in UK?
If not, which uni has that?

Nobody can say with absolute certainly that X university has the highest reputation in the UK, these things are subjective and are open to interpretation. But certainly the Bartlett, the UCL School which houses the architectural and urban planning departments, is world famous. It definitely is one of the best places in the country to study planning. But Sheffield, Manchester and Birmingham are all good too.

I would just add that there are a number of 'strong' (internationally recognised) schools of planning in the UK. Each school/dept will have it's own specialism or 'flavour' so it's important to check-out those that interest you and ask some probing questions. For instance, if you are interested in planning and development (as in real estate development), then the University of Reading is a global centre for this area and our students do very well in the job market. I myself chose to study at UCL because of their emphasis (at that time) on theoretical perspectives and a large research-based dissertation. Sheffield now also has a good reputation in planning theory. Oxford Brookes (a very good 'new' university) provides a lot of choice and can offer a range of 'specialisms'.

So check-out the different flavours and select your preferred cake: they all come with a similar base, but their toppings are what makes them distinctive! :smile:

Well, you've obviously made your choice....so you must have rated it! I would agree that it's a good planning department (reputation, history, staff, research, etc) with an 'emerging' real estate pathway. I've always considered Manchester one of the top planning schools.
