How to write well

I don't know if this has been already done, but I was wondering if there is a resource or something to pool together ideas- tips on how a person can write well. People with suggestions on book lists, etc. Also, how to develop character plotlines and themes to equip people with the right tools to write well in exams and as a hobby.
