1. Can any one explain to me the upper bound question
2. How many marks was the first page worth? ( the stem and leaf diagram)
3. (Original post by bulbs)
Is the trial and improvement still 3.7? lolololol
nope 3.7 too small so rule is round up
4. (Original post by Purpleunicorn197)
Reps are not necessary but would be appreciated

It would be really useful if you could remember the question numbers
1. Order numbers correctly and include a key
b) 9/20=
0.45
2a. 5a*2b*3c =
30abc
b. Factorise fully 3y +6 =
3(y+2)
c. Expand x(x-3)=
x^2-3x
3.
x=9.25
4. Smallest packet was best value for money because it was cheapest per bag of
crisps
5. 4 times as many red than green: There were 0.4 blue and 0.15 yellow.
0.4+0.15+4x+x=1
0.55+5x=1
5x=0.45
x=0.09
4x=0.36
Green- 0.09 Red- 0.36
6a. 20.3
b. 68.04kg
c. 2.61m
7. 3.8
8a. 4:3
b. 480 pixels
9.x= 124 degrees
10. 7.92
11.£42.29
12. x=144 degrees
13.
-2 -1 0 1 2
-1 3 1 -1 3
Draw curve
14. 3 Bars
15. No, because 7766.22 was greater than 7500 pounds
16. 128g
b.11g
17. 30.1
18. 10a^5b^4
b. y= 5p^2-x
19.11 males
20. x= 0.29 or x= -2.29
21. 29.25
22. F.d- 1.6, 3.2, 2.4, 1.8, 0.3
23.28.9
24a. -1/3x+4
b. 2x/(x+1)(x-1)
25. 80.4
could you please confirm the questions for 10, 11, 17 and 21 please
5. (Original post by EBeddowes)
did you need to write frequency density on the axis of the histogram? Because old mark schemes havent mentioned it
I wrote frequency density I think you had to just to show what you understood the y axis
1. Can somene tell me plz; i made a small calculation error on the last question and got 81 instead of 80.4, i was wondering how many of the 6 marks ill get on it?
Probably 4 or 5 because my teacher always says the final answer is worth a mark but dont worry im sure you did fine
7. I did register to this forum with my e-mail address provided following instructions via e-mail sent to me by you. Strange.
8. (Original post by lucygr8y)
I managed to get the workings to 40.005 degrees. But I stupidly put this as the final answer!! Do you think this will get me 1/2 or more marks?!
1 mark probably
9. (Original post by SweetStarlight14)
I got 144 for the pentagon question, but 124 for the parallel lines question.
Same
10. (Original post by bamzy123)
It was the large packet...
no it was definitely the small packet
11. (Original post by mRubern)
How many marks was the first page worth? ( the stem and leaf diagram)
3 marks for the stem and leaf.
2 marks for the probability.

So 5 marks in total.
12. (Original post by Fizzyflash52)
Probably 4 or 5 because my teacher always says the final answer is worth a mark but dont worry im sure you did fine
Thank you, this test was much easier than the non calculator
13. Realised I used the upper bound for U instead of the lower bound...
14. (Original post by s_ovo)
Can any one explain to me the upper bound question
it's I = 5(v-u)

You need to work out the upper bound of I.

So to work out the upper bound (so the higher value) of I you need to get the highest value in your answer.

So 5 x (UPPER - LOWER) will give you the upper bound (higher overall).

e.g.
(5 - 1) = 4

(5 - 2) = 3

so for the upper bound of I (higher value) you need the upper of v and lower of u, 5 x (upper - lower)
15. (Original post by Kajsajbas)
That's exactly what I got taught and why I put 3.7 because you compare how close they are to it
The question:
The question: The equation - x^3 - 5x = 34has a solution between 3 and 4Use trial and improvement method to find this solutionGive your answer correct to 1 decimal placeYou must show all your working

correct to 1d.p. doesnt mean to round from a number. you need to find the closest number that is to 1 d.p. we're on the same page here
16. On question number 7 (Trial and Improvement) I got 3.7, I got the full working out correctly, would I get 3 marks?
17. Can anyone tell me what question 21 was asking it's the only question I can't remember and the answer was 29.25 according to the unofficial mark scheme.
18. ***urgent***

will 168/169/170 be an a*
