Hi, I believe HEO/SEO to Band T is still viewed as a promotion, therefore you keep your higher salary, hence why the upper pay bracket for Band T is above 40k

It's not recognised as a promotion. On promotion your pay is the better of the minimum of the new grade or an 8% increase.
The TSP is different in that your pay is the better of the TSP minimum or your current substantive pay. i.e. if you're already HO/SO, your pay will be unchanged.

The formal learning may be, but to my knowledge there's still a work-based consolidation period afterwards, which you also have to pass to get promoted. That makes it closer to 3 years in total.

Interesting, I'm sure I've read that ICAS was a 3 year course compared to 4 years for TSP but I can't find where I read it now

My original assumption was that my pay would remain unchanged as I am an SEO from an OGD, but then I had a moment of panic that I have got it wrong and have asked the question again before I accept the offer but have not yet had a reply from the email they've given... but I imagine they are busy!

I suspect you're right. I don't know how it works for OGDs sorry, but I'd be surprised if you were any worse off. The unions wouldn't allow it!

That's what I mean. Both versions of the course are now 3 years, compared to the old 4 years. I believe there's some difference in when the formal learning ends, depending on which version you do and which business area you specialise in, but they'll broadly end around the same time.

I currently work for HMRC and have been told that you will keep your current pay of higher than the TSP minimum, so I wouldn't worry about it. I referred to it as viewed as promotion as current management are able to block sideways moves. In that regard Band T is viewed as a promotion from HEO/SEO.

Yeah same here, not sure if I'm going to take it yet though - first preference and current home is Edinburgh!

Not yet!
On the issue of whether a move to band T is a promotion....Would we lose our 1.5 days additional leave (the old easter and xmas privilege days) which I know you do lose on promotion.

What are the holidays normally for someone working for hmrc? Or does it vary depending on your level?

22 days for the first year, 25 days after that, 30 days after 10 years. 1 privilege day for the Queen's birthday each year, plus bank hols.

This might sound like a silly question, but is it 22 days plus 10 stat days? I'm just used to them being grouped together

Don't think it's necessarily 10 - depends on whether you're in England & Wales, Scotland or NI - but yes, 22 plus bank hols.
Congrats on the offers everyone.. just wondering how long you've been given to accept? I'm on the reserve list, patiently waiting for some kind of update...

Offers could be made as late as July if people accept their offers but later reject them. This happens every year so keep your fingers crossed.
