I know KCH is catered, but does it have any form of kitchen for students' use?

Yes, there are kitchens for each corridor. Handy if you miss dinner and fancy something to eat. A 24 hour sainsburys is just around the corner.
A fridge costs something like £60 for the year to rent for your room. I actually had one of those tiny mini fridges that fits 6 cans of coke. I would keep a bit of ham, cheese, paté, butter and milk in there and keep some bread and cereal outside the fridge it was handy for snacks.
