The grammer is easy, i find the words easy, although you're probably doing it at uni level, so it's prob harder.

it's just the writing for me, i was only 8 when i left iran, so most of what i know in temrs of writing comes from that time period, but for a level, i wanna learn at least 200 new vocabs and take the writing lessons more seriously, anyway good luck

Ok it's japaneese, but it's still saky not sako lol

ohhh it's SAKE =D

it's deffo not sak-y, trust me:wink:

and about persian books etc. i was just looking "for jokes" in Waterstones and they have quite a few, although i was in one of the massive stores so might not have them in the smaller ones. but in these kind of situations, amazon is your friend!

Amazon's actually fairly rubbish when it comes to specialist Persian books. I prefer to use IranBookShop (they send a nice little postcard with each book as well) who send from Iran. Trouble is now its too late to order any books from there as it won't get here until after the exam.

The Waterstones in Nottingham is awful, the language section is tiny. Would the giant ones in London sell these books or anything? If so I may have to go down this weekend.

Bateman, do you know of any idiom books (if not can you scan your notes and stuff pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese  )

Cool, thanks for the offer.

Im currently reading Tales of Mejid (I'm reading the story about the cat). It's not too difficult but there are odd words / phrases which I struggle with (and the good news is I have to head to my dictionary less and less often  ). Is that roughly the level the AS will be in (to anyone who's done them)?

Thanks guys,
LOL there's some randomer in D&D who's trying to convince us that Iran was invaded during WWI, and that Mohammad Mossadeq is a nazi, and the Shah was a good guy and that women's votes in Iran were only granted after the revolution

lol, is he Iranian? I have friends who come up with stuff like that all the time...
No, he's a randomer who says he supports the BNP...then he accuses poor old mossadeq (a liberal incidentally) of being a nazi.

guys sorry to burst your bubble
but shah had good relations with hitler thus changing the countries name to iran

also, i think the shah was a good bloke, he protected the country, and had good relations to the west, and he was developing our country fast, granted, he favoured the rich, and sometimes let westerners walk all over the iranians, he still did better for our country than the current government is

shah had made us dependent on west and US.most of the problems we have in our economic system and industries now base on bad policies he and his men had,
one of his primeministers had said that "we have oil,we r rich enough to sell it and buy whatever we want, why to work???????????????????????"
see how much they were ignorant(or tried to make people fool)
I agree with both Bateman and sep. Although at the time Iran seemed prosperous, with an ever changing developing country, it has highly dependent on the west. But then again, if it wasn't for oil the current economic state of Iran would be terrible....

It's a complex question. On the one hand, the shahs killed hundreds of people over many decades, but the current regime would kill thousands in it's first decade alone. On the other hand Iran is more independant now, but that's not really a good thing since the people suffer.

Though I'm interested to know why you think Reza shah protected Iran, his army surrendered, allowing the British and Soviets to invade Iran in 1941, and he promptly abdicated...? In my opinion, the Shah is the reason why we're lumbered with the current govt. So in that way, he's worse.

One thing that's the same for both shah and mullah is they're both corrupted as hell :p:

sep, proof?
his choices affect our country still?!

no, we are in a bad economic state because of the sanctions imposed on us
now who is too blame?

when the shah was still around we had the best army in asia, do you think saddam even dreamt of invading us?

10 reyal was worth £1 and we still had 1000 reyal bills, as a country we were rich

also, he let countries come into our land, because he didn't want to start a war and get effed up like germany and japan did, thats a bad thing?

Don't start thinking i'm against this new government because it's based on religion, because i don't, i don't even care if the shah was a mullah, and women still had to wear scarfs, just which moron goes against america, we are independant but so what, we're still not developed
