It seems that you get to give out rep when your postcount is over 100.
I believe it is actually 200 posts and then you can give out rep.

I have got many grey gems, as well as red and green, it is just a fact of life.

they could have been good ones though (but doubtful)
and that rep equation is incorrect....look at pig's sig for the real one (but last time i checked it was slightly flawed, because it suggests that people with 1 post can give rep)

No, each one of my dark green gems is 100 rep points and the light green gems are 200 rep points.
