I can't talk about the course, but I'm near your department, Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies are beside each other I think, so that's a good thing.

If you're into your grammar, may I suggest you learn Icelandic. :ninja:
Thanks for all the info Lemily- seriously, is Dr. Van de Koot that bad? Was kind of looking forward to Generative Grammar A and B. Maybe you just had a bad experience? Can you expand on this? Would this course be easier if you knew two other languages? Reps to you tomorrow...
How's the Icelandic going Hylean?

It's going grand. I can speak their language quite well now, except for specialised areas. Newspapers are still a bit of a bugger, though. Looking forward to my final year, it has to be said. I miss everyone I know from UCL.
Congrats, it's a category 2 language.

I was invited to UCL's Linguistics Open Day and ended up in an undergrad lecture on Generative Grammar. Seemed pretty intense but the lecturer was really nice, I think he was called Klaus? I spoke to Hans afterwards as well, but as he wasn't teaching I can't really say what he was like.
Seemed like a very friendly department overall though, I really liked it.
