Civil Engineering - enrolling at 31 years old

Hi folks,

I'm just looking for some advice.

I currently work offshore in the oil and gas industry, but things don't look very good at the moment and my job is a bit dead end in terms of career development, so I've been toying with the idea of going back to university in Sept 2020 (by which time I will be 31) and doing an Beng in Civil Engineering as a career change.

I have good highers from school and an HND and Scottish Professional Diploma from Nautical college so should meet the entry requirements.

My main concerns are that I could be a bit on the old side for the course? As I will be 35 by the time that I graduate.

I've also looked at apprenticeships where you study for a degree and work at the same time, this might be a better option, does anyone know the best place to find a good degree apprenticeship to get into civil engineering?

I'm focusing on civil engineering at the moment, but open to the idea of electrical or mechanical apprenticeships if the career options are better.
