laptop for programming (python, MATLAB, Mathmatica etc)

Hi, I need a new laptop and one that can be used for Python and similar programming languages.

But I also don't want to spend much money as I usually end up breaking laptops.

Any recommendations? Would the ASUS VivoBook X555 15.6 In AMD A10 4GB 1TB FHD Laptop do?

Or would I need more RAM and a better processor really?

Cheers.

In my opinion, get a Ryzen 5 or an i5 (8th gen or better) processor and 8GB RAM. Try and get FHD screen. That will cost around £500-£600 (when there is no sale). If you have a lower budget, then get something with 4GB RAM but a laptop where you can upgrade in the future. For even lower budgets, i3 or Ryzen 3, but at that point I'd then consider a second-hand thinkpad. Others will have alternative options, but I think what I've said is reasonable
