EXACTLY we do this a lot (especially in biology) and If you answer the question in a certain depth or intelligence, then you get a certain grade.

Absolutely rubbish. You cannot be given a GCSE grade based on your answer to one question.

Maths GCSE gets a lot harder. Proof, Circle theorums, Algebraic fractions...this is the top level content. You still have lots to learn, and I really don’t know why your school is grading you in year 7. This is a predicted grade, what they think you will get in year 11, not if you sat the GCSE right now. I’m not knocking you, but I think that’s what they mean. Don’t worry! Work hard, you’ve got a lot of time to gain those skills 😊

Agreed

GCSE algebra is not taught in year 7 though.

We once got GCSE homework on grade 9 algebra - it wasn’t that hard - all you had to do was break down the letters/numbers until you got a simple algebra expression.

No they were whole papers

Could you tell me what it looked like? Just make up an expression similar to it 😊

So you're telling me you sat a whole GCSE paper In year 7 (on biology was it?) And got a grade 5? That clearly rubbish. There is no way you have learnt that much of the course and completed the RPs needed.

They didn’t teach me all that at school. Daddy has a degree in humanities

That’d be geography or history
In year 7 and 8 it does not matter what set you’re in. I jumped from set 3 in maths to set 1 when the head of maths who didn’t like me left, and came out with a grade 9. Honestly years 7-9 are useless and irrelevant to your academic life, and a TSR account at that stage is a waste of your time.

Sorry, I accidentally pressed reply early
read the post underneath for it to carry on

That’s ok! Could you ask her what science for me? 😊
Or rather was it specialised or general studies?

I don’t get you!??
if you don't ask you don't get

As I said before, you can't get a proper GCSE grade from one question or piece of work. What have have you studied in science this year?

Oh...sorry? I was just trying to help out :frown:
I wondered which subject she took, out of curiosity. I’m sorry if that was intrusive.
You’re in year 7! Your grades are irrelevant at that age. Sets only matter in year 9 onwards. Most kids won’t still be in the same set as year 7 as year 10. You’re also too young for most of the content on TSR.
Besides I’m in to lower set and my peers have 3,4 and 5s as there targets and I’m there with a 7
Ok well an update
Thank you all for the kind words and helpful advice
I didn’t want this to turn into a shout at me and tell me how rubbish I am or a mmmm… let’s see what she actually did and see if we can make her make a mistake thread

Anyways, got Mummy to email the school and they made a mistake
My name is XXXX and at school there is someone with a similar name
We are in the same year
On the report it said xxx and when they were handed out they got us muddled.
