Which On-Campus accomodation is best for social life?

Hi,

I've applied to start at Sussex in the autumn 2021 term and am looking at accomodation.
Just wondered if someone could answer these questions?

1) Which accomodation has the best social life?
2) I'm thinking of putting Brighthelm as my first choice, what's the social life and it generally like?
3) What's the new East slope residences like? There is'nt much info on the website..

And just generally any other advice about sussex accomodation.

Thank you!

Hello Alex, thank you for all your questions.

As someone who has lived on campus for 3 academic years now (in range of accommodation options), I found that more and less socially active flats can be found in all accommodation types. However, bigger flats (e.g., Park houses, East Slope) tend to be the busiest. Saying that, no matter what accommodation you end up living in, there will always be plenty of socialising opportunities on campus, and in Brighton.

Brighthelm is definitely a great accommodation choice, if you are looking to live with fewer people (max of 5 people per flat), and get to know everyone really well. It is also the only student housing on campus that benefits from its own clothes washing facilities. Thus, you will not need to use a laundrette, which is very convenient and cost efficient.

East Slope consists of en-suite and non-ensuite flats. You can normally expect to live with 9 other flat mates. In the shared bathroom flats, there is one bathroom between 2-3 people. Generally, I would say that East Slope is a very nice accommodation (from what I have seen). It is very modern, spacious and well-priced (relative to other less modern en-suites, which often cost a very similar amount).

If you have any further worries or questions, I would recommend contacting Sussex Housing Office ([email protected]). The specific members of stuff will be able to provide you with more detailed information. Still, feel free to ask me any further questions, and I will do my best to answer them.

Best Wishes,
