Is studying Computer Science PHD in the UK marketable? and how long can it take for a full time course?
Hi Leanzs!

A computer science PhD will take three years to complete. This can be six years if you opt for the part-time course.

A Computer Science PhD is not marketable in the UK. This is because a PhD Computer Science course would not make you more favourable than a MSc Computer Science. Both degrees are favoured the same amount by an overwhelming vast majority of employers.

This is because a PhD is something you get for yourself. You do not get a PhD to become more employable - rather, you get a PhD in Computer Science because you love Computer Science so much you would like to join a researching group and dedicate your whole life to researching more concepts within Computer Science, or you want to start your own project, or you want to work for a very specialised industry niche in Computer Science (For example, you want to build a neural network company or you want to work for one your whole life.)

Also, you would not learn Computer Science in PhD the same way you would as MSc or BSc - by this, I mean that you would specialise very intensely into one specific area of Computer Science (This could be Machine Learning for example.)

Hope this answers your question!.
