Hi guys, has anyone done an MSc/PGCert/PGDip for medical ultrasound at BCU.
Can I apply for this course as a postgraduate after doing an undergraduate in diagnostic radiography?
Should I chose MSc/PGCert/PGDip as I want to be an ultrasound technician? Which is the best and how much will the course cost me? PLEASE ANSWER THANKSSS!! <3

Hey! I haven't done this but have previously read up around this.

Just checking again (https://www.bcu.ac.uk/courses/medical-ultrasound-msc-2021-22#entry_requirements)

The criteria states:

- You will normally be expected to hold either a first degree lower second class (2.2) or above, or an equivalent professional qualification and have had a minimum of two years experience as a qualified practitioner.
- The majority of applicants will be radiographers, midwives, doctors and nurses. However we will consider applicants with health based or science degrees providing that they are able to obtain a clinical placement.
- You must ensure that you have a satisfactory clinical placement where you can obtain a minimum of 320 hours of supervised ‘hands on’ clinical ultrasound experience - this is equivalent to 2 days per week over a nine month period.
- You must complete the ultrasound clinical placement form when you apply, unfortunately we cannot consider your application without your proof of placement.

Fees - https://www.bcu.ac.uk/courses/medical-ultrasound-msc-2021-22#fees_how_to_apply

£830 per 20 credits

PG Cert (requires 60 credits)
PG Diploma (requires 120 credits)
MSc (requires 180 credits)

I believe applications are still open. You could give it a go and see?

Many radiographers do go on to study ultrasound.

Hope this helps and good luck!xx
