Is there a pretence on UCAT ?
I am planning on doing dentistry at Bristol but I am worried about my gcse grades they are:
888777666
I got a 6 in bio and English lang and might edit them but I am not to sure if they accepts gcse resits.
Could someone let me know if these grades are good enough?because I only really saw people with very high grades applying, so I am scared.
Thank you

So I'm somewhat doubtful I will get an interview as I did not do well in the UCAT, which is a real shame as Bristol is my top choice and unfortunately it relies 100% on the UCAT when choosing who to invite to interview :/ But I thought to maybe document what happens here in case it might be helpful to anyone else in a similar boat.

I'm a mature (+ graduate) student, I'm currently finishing the final year of my PhD in palaeontology (specialising in jaws and teeth), at A-level I had A*AAA (+ A* in EPQ), I didn't do any GCSEs other than english and maths (took those alongside my A-levels when I returned to England) as I was in another country where exams don't start until the equivalent of A-level at the time.

My UCAT result was 2510 (B1), ffffff! There are a few reasons for this, but I won't get into that here. Anyway, just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best that I'll at least make it to interview. My one hope is that I know the average UCAT score for people invited to interview last year was 2600-something, which means I might just fall into the lower end of those invited, if they aren't super oversubscribed this year. I think I heard that Bristol is doubling their cohort size this year because of the new school building? If that's true it would heighten my chances of getting to interview stage too.

@Kiwi789 Where did you hear that Bristol is doubling their cohort size? That would be amazing if true.

Have you heard this from Bristol?

Probably not because I keep up to date with cohort sizes, I've been to Bristol Open days and know a couple of people who study there, none of them have ever said that there was an increase in cohort size. New building, yes; More students, no.

Edit* - Yes, there will probably be a 25% increase in students, I was wrong

Ah, slight correction on my part, it's actually a 25% increase. Here's an article mentioning it https://epigram.org.uk/2021/12/02/university-of-bristol-dental-school-to-expand-to-new-site-in-2023/
I don't know if that's effective immediately next year though, they just say they will be able to accomodate more students.

I'm a current student at the university, I heard it from some other people there but I misheard. It's 25% increase rather than doubling. Still a potential increase though

Hmm I've just asked one of the students, they said they were unaware of this, my apologies for the post above anyways
Apply to the university where you enjoyed the campus and city the most. Both Bristol and Cardiff are excellent dental schools and you have a very good chance of getting an interview to either
Pick which ever university you liked the city and campus the most. Both Bristol and Cardiff and excellent unis, but Bristol has the added bonus of a brand new dental school. You’ll definitely be able to secure an interview to either
Is anybody applying for a208 gateway to dentistry?

Any ideas on ucat required?
anyone got any interviews yet?
